Basketball
Basketball is an all year sport which is great for learning ball skills and teamwork. This sport is for children Year 3 through to Year 6. The games are typically played at the YMCA in town and practiced at Berkley School Gym. Each week there is a 30 minute game which goes quite quickly. Like all sports that are run by Hillcrest Normal School, Basketball heavily relies on parent helpers to coach and manage the teams.
| When: | Competition takes place on Wednesday afternoons for year 3 & 4 and Friday afternoons for years 5 & 6.
Practices take place at a time that is convenient for the team’s coach, typically at 4-5pm on a Tuesday at Berkley school, but this is not for all teams. It may be during a school lunch break or straight after school one day. This will be confirmed at the start of the season once coaches have decided. |
| Where: | Games are played at the YMCA in Pembroke Street most of the time, the occasional game will take place at Fraser High School gym.
Practices take place at Berkley Middle School in the gym or at the top courts behind the hall at Hillcrest Normal School. This is dependant on the time the coaches are available to practice and you will be notified of this at the start of the season. |
